Daily Duties at Microsoft:
Manage pre-production environment of approximately 1000 servers for Microsoft’s Extranet team, with the following duties: 1. Gather and report capacity information to ensure the business units have the necessary rack space, power and cooling to host all of their servers/applications. 2. Work with security, management and operations teams to ensure all applicable policies are applied and enforced in the environment. 3. Manage technical support team that provides tier 2/3 support for the environment. 4. Provide off-hours, on-call support for break-fix issues. 5. Plan, oversee and implement infrastructure projects and network design changes, and extensions of the environment to other locations (regionally, nationally and globally). 6. Work with customers to determine the needs of their applications and develop solutions that will meet those needs. 7. Manage and support F5 BigIP/3DNS hardware, which provides load-balancing and redundancy for internet facing applications both locally and regionally.
