Daily Duties at Army National Guard:

As a NCO in the U.S. Army I was responsible for the overall welfare of the soldiers in my squad and all other lower-enlisted soldiers. I helped maintain the army standards, made sure tasks were carried out correctly, and served as a counselor to the soldiers. I handled any problems with pay, promotions, education, and any other personal issues that may arise. During this period of active duty, I was tasked with learning the components, systems, and configuration of the Army Battle Command System (ABCS). The system is to be used for overall command and control of military operations. We had to learn what systems were included in the mobile network, develop a plan to streamline quick setup and tear-down of the operations center, and make sure all the systems could interface with each other; including connectivity with higher command. A team of 2 other individuals and me successfully accomplished this task with no prior knowledge or training on the system.

What they like about Army National Guard:

You highly value a work environment built on a formal structure, rules, and regulations. You do not enjoy the unpredictability of shifting priorities and deadlines that upset your routine. You require and enjoy direction, input and accountability as part of your work environment. You have a strong need to participate in making key decisions and feel left out if your superiors or co-workers do not seek your input when making decisions. You thrive on providing good customer service to both internal or external customers, and doing so makes you feel good.
