Daily Duties at Meggitt Silicone Products:

Meggitt is an ISO 9000 seal and gasket manufacturer for the aerospace, power generation, and HVAC industries. They supply custom seals and gaskets to Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed, Eclipse, GKN, GE, Cessna, and Learjet. At Meggitt production is divided into cells, with each engineer dealing with the introduction of 300+ new parts annually. Meggitt is committed to delivering high quality parts with a shorter lead-time than their competition. My cells include the CNC Waterjet, Large Calender/Die Cutting, and Small Press. In my cells the average time to release a first article to production has gone from 67 days to 46 days. I have been involved in operator equipment training, been responsible for getting buy-in on Fast Track production methods from production and my support network, coordination between production and engineering, and supplier buy-in on Fast-Track delivery schedules. My responsibilities include creating routings, detailed BOMs, creating waterjet programs using AutoCAD and FlowMaster, work-holding fixtures, waterjet operator training, designing steel-rule dies, and troubleshooting/resolution of production problems.
