Daily Duties at Harman Becker :

Supervised 36 multicultural operators in automatic insertion (AI) and Surface Mount Technology (SMT) lines for PCBA manufacturing in automotive amplifier industry. Developed or revised standard operational and working practices and observed operators to ensure compliance with standards. Responsible to appropriately staff and schedule departmental personnel to ensure production requirements are met while minimizing costs. Responsible for planning departmental operations by establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products. Scheduled SMT lines and worked with planning to meet the customer demand. (Achieved 98% on time delivery) Coordinated and led the AI continuous improvement (Kaizen) team and 5S team Implemented lean manufacturing principals and increased production efficiency by 0.7% per year (annual savings of over $50,000). Increased SMT production throughput by measuring cycle times, identifying the bottleneck, and balancing the lines by 0.9% (annual savings of over $65,000). Reduced the scrap through process improvement by 0.2% per year (annual savings of over $75,000). Improved solder paste yield by 0.5% per year through machine optimization (annual savings of $25,000). Defined problem, collected data, established facts and recommended corrective actions. Interacted with manufacturing, purchasing and planning to maintain a production execution build plan. Worked closely with quality department to ensure production operates in accordance with QS 9001 and helped to maintain production metrics that were used to capture manufacturing performance. Set up necessary programs to train the operators as well as OJT (On the Job Training) programs
