Daily Duties at The Pennsylvania State University:
As Conference Planner for the University I developed and produced 20 programs in 24 months some with attendance of up to 400 participants. This required detailed focus from start to finish of each event, on various details such as budget, finance, procurement, funding, logistics and contract proposals. Coordinated with faculty to determine program outlines, developed budgets, identified and negotiated fees with speakers. Represented the office in dealings with vendors and other organizations: negotiated contracts for conference sites, room rates and meal packages with the hotel. Handled logistics, property and space requirements: coordinated equipment and designed layouts and technical requirements for extensive exhibits. Set up tours, off-site activities, and recreational events. Provided on-site management of the event. Answered all attendee telephone inquiries concerning the program, housing, travel, fees, and payment; prepared comprehensive financial reports.
What they like about The Pennsylvania State University:
You highly value a work environment built on a formal structure, rules, and regulations. You do not enjoy the unpredictability of shifting priorities and deadlines that upset your routine. You require and enjoy direction, input and accountability as part of your work environment. You have a strong need to participate in making key decisions and feel left out if your superiors or co-workers do not seek your input when making decisions. You thrive on providing good customer service to both internal or external customers, and doing so makes you feel good.
