Daily Duties at Lenovo Group Limited:

SME (subject matter expert) for Worldwide Enterprise and E-Commerce Search. Led strategy development, product selection, and life cycle management of multiple web applications deployed on E-Commerce website. Interfaced with 35 WEB stakeholders throughout US, Europe and Asia. Played key role in implementing new search engine across Lenovo E-Commerce site using FAST ESP (www.fastsearch.com). Developed requirements and strategic plan, prepared RFP’s, interviewed vendors, and negotiated vendor development and support contracts. Improved relevancy results for customers and increased conversion rates by implementing SEO strategy to improve organic search on site. Enabled enhanced internal and external search capabilities by partnering with fellow steering committee members to develop strategy, select, and deploy new Lenovo WW Enterprise Content Management System required to restructure and reformat over 2M page site.

Investigating Web Content Management System available as open source..

Currently looking at 2 open source content management packages - Joomla and DotNetNuke.

First observation:

DotNetNuke - more powerful, extend-able, more complex to learn
Jommla - easy to use, a lot of third party modules, plenty of template and internet support.

Will be playing with them over the next few weeks to build my own site IT Consulting LLC.
