Daily Duties at Department Of The Interior Chief Information Office:
- Provided management direction and leadership for Departmental Records Management, Privacy, Web Management, Freedom of Information (FOIA), FOIA Appeals, and Section 508 (Accessibility Act) Programs. - Developed Web Transformation Strategy to include hardware and content management, outlining plan for orderly server consolidation, from 2600 web servers over 8 Bureaus across the country to small web farm. - Directed DOI Smart Card and E-Authentication planning. Built collaboration team with DoD and OMB to lead the government in standards development and the draft of HSPD-12 Executive Order. - As technical advisor to the Deputy Associate Secretary (December, 2001), provided technical leadership for Internet shutdown/reconnection strategies, coordinating with DOJ lawyers and DC Federal District Court to bring Interior back on-line over 3 years. DOI Year 2000 Program Manager - Obtained $129,000,000 of OMB Emergency Supplemental Funds, the 4th largest sum of money to departmental agencies across the federal government. - Devised and implemented a tracking process to monitor obligation and expenditure of funds for financial accountability. GAO subsequently recommended OMB implement similar procedures government-wide. - Assisted Departmental leadership to integrate internal business decision making with other Agency investment decision making, laying the ground work to formalize the investment review boards as part of the Capital Planning and Investment Control processes implemented over the next three years throughout DOI. - Developed command center model which was used by the White House's Information Coordination Center (ICC) both within the IT community and across the National Critical Infrastructure, based on Interior emergency response plans. Model was successfully replicated and used on 9/11/2001.
