Daily Duties at Disability Management Services, Inc. :
•Corporate - SAS 70 point person, primary coordinator and participant of annual SAS 70 Audits conducted by Big Four auditing firms. Primary coordinator of all audits by state insurance departments and contracted auditors. Present and participated in the scheduling, performing and testing portions of audits and controlled the release and return of all company documents as appropriate to outside sources. Maintained a continuous Fraud Risk Assessment atmosphere. Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), well versed and familiarity. •Claims - planned and performed claim audits of seven client companies under contract. •Accounting - planned and performed audits of claim benefit payments, employee check issuance limits, authority, security and controls, agent commissions security and controls and employee travel expenses. • IT/Systems – audited security and controls, claims systems information reliability, vigilant for programming errors. Utilized Systems Department in designing programs to select criteria, select samples, set scopes and analyze results. • Actuarial – assisted Actuarial Department with company claims and litigation monetary reserving issues. • Reporting – drafted reports and presented findings to Senior Corporate Staff, along with proposed recommendations for improvements and solutions to problem issues. • Consulting – performed outside consulting projects as requested, ie: national insurance industry recognized UnumProvident Corporation Multi-State Regulatory Settlement Agreement Claim Reassessment Project. In accordance with Agreement, handled denied disability claims appeals under Social Security guidelines and procedures with decisions being made to uphold denial, overturn with partial payment or overturn with ongoing payments. Reviewed all SSDI/SSI files. • Staff Auditors - (2) as direct reports - trained, managed, assigned and supervised all activities.
