Daily Duties at Illinois Department Of Corrections:

Directs the overall operations, programs and activities of the Vandalia Center and work camp; formulate policy, procedures, rules, regulations and institutional directives for employees and inmates; directs, assigns, evaluates work activities and areas of responsibilities for all department heads; plans and approves facility’s fiscal budget of $32 million; develops and implements policies and procedures, supervises 427 employees, 1,300 inmates with 1.4 million meals prepared annually. Conducts inspections of overall physical plant, equipment and grounds for safety and security, sanitation, efficiency, maintenance and ensure operational effectiveness of facility; make recommendations; ensure follow-up for corrective action; direct development f facility new construction and renovation of existing plant and capital projects
