Daily Duties at Higher Power Engineering:
As head of Engineering Services I have lead contracts from both government and private sectors. NAVSEA projects included a 400Hz Generator Test Set feasibility study, Submarine Battery Switch development for the Seawolf, and High-Current Bus Duct for DC surface ship electric propulsion. For the last three years I have been the Principal Investigator for a NAVAIR project to develop a High-Current Semiconductor Line Contactor for aircraft use. As founder of HPE my responsibilities also include staff supervision, proposal creation & presentation, direct customer contacts, marketing, accounting, and finance. Past duties also included major work with the FAA on power system design, implementation, and start-up for all Air Traffic Control Centers throughout the US. This work included direct engineering involvement with engine-generator instrumentation, all related auxiliary power equipment, large UPS system specifications & testing, Static Transfer Switches, and technical recommendations for electrical control and power system operation. Presented several custom training classes on power system operation and maintenance to FAA facility technicians and engineers.
