Challenged with returning the company to profitability by planning and executing an enterprise-wide turnaround and culture change initiative, including upgrading key management personnel. • Reversed a $4 million loss to a $1 million profit in less than two years, and positioned the company as #1 in the market (37% market share in digital clocks; 27% market share in wall clocks). Delivered strong turnaround results and negotiated sale to a major competitor for 10 times EBIT. • Refocused on increasing volume within the top 30 big box/ mass merchant accounts. Increased sales on the top 30 mass merchant accounts by 35%, and net margins by 5.4%. Recaptured and restored past relationships with K-Mart, Home Depot, Dollar General, JC Penny, and QVC. • Negotiated and secured licenses with Crayola, NFL, MLB and NBA to drive gains in incremental sales with gross margins in excess of 60%. • Transitioned 35% of product manufacturing to domestic operations while expanding offshore manufacturing in China to achieve higher margin direct import sales.
