Daily Duties at Uss Spruance (Dd 963) Us Navy:
Responsible for the supervision of 30 Sailors in the main propulsion division. Oversaw the preventive and corrective maintenance of four GE LM2500 main propulsion gas turbine engines and three Allison 501-K17 gas turbine generators and associated auxiliary equipment. Supervised shipyard, maintenance activity and ship’s force work during eight month shipwide regular overhaul, enabling ship to meet all commitments on time. Trained junior technicians in troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance. As ship’s Oil King, managed the fuel and lube oil quality management programs and ensured proper loading and distribution of fuel throughout the ship. As the ship’s gage calibration coordinator, ensured all instruments were within standards. Maintained the Marine Gas Turbine Service Records, ensuring all maintenance, updates and inspections were completed and recorded. As a member of the Engineering and Damage Control Training Teams, created realistic training scenarios and drill packages, providing training for normal and emergency operations. Watch duties included: Engineering Officer of the Watch, Engineering Duty Officer, Central Control Station Watch, Propulsion and Auxiliary Control Console Operator and Electric Plant Control Console Operator.
