Daily Duties at Orange County Health Department:
-Planning health education programs in a community setting for Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Alzheimer, Fibroids, Heart Disease, Diabetes, Lung Cancer, Cervical Cancer, Injury prevention for seniors, Water safety for pool owners , parents and children -Analyzing results from the needs assessment -Applying principles of community organization and developing novel strategies to integrate health education within existing health programs -Formulating objectives and designing interventions appropriate to the population -Identifying and assessing community resources and barriers affecting implementation of the program -Selecting program activities and interventions depending on the characteristics of the priority population, its constraints and concerns, and the fit between programs schedules and other obligations of the participants -Assisting Seminole, Osceola and Orange County task force in promoting health related initiatives - Participating in Health Fairs and Health Screenings and distributing educational and informational materials on public health issues such as smoking, immunization, drug abuse, and AIDS. -Creating partnership with organizations such as American Heart Association & American Lung Association -Assisting with community outreach to help people adopt healthier lifestyles, make the most efficient use of health services, and practice self-care. -Assisting with program budgets/funds -Serving on a grant writing team
