Daily Duties at Kawasaki Gas Turbines Americas:
o Lead project design review and kickoff meetings – establishing goals and leading the domestic and international project team to completion of successful projects. o Work with internal and external customers for initial proposal stage, project award stage, engineering and fabrication stage, contract and construction stage, startup and close out stage and all financial aspects of the project. o Manage Project Managers and project team o Direct production and fabrication of packages from initial order until units are string tested and shipped to the customer’s site. o Direct contractors, sub-contractors and vendors to follow KGTA Quality Plan. o Direct Project Managers, Engineers, and Field Service Technical Advisors from initial installation through commissioning and commercial operations. o Work with design engineers, ensure all drawings are redlined if not fabricated based on manufacturing and fabrication drawings. o Coordinate all phases of work with customers and all internal US Kawasaki Directors and Kawasaki Directors and management staff in Japan. o GPB15, 15X, GPB30, GPB60, GPB70, GPS4500 and L20 models of Kawasaki Gas Turbines o Work with and direct design engineers, application engineers, electrical engineers and mechanical engineers assigned to each project. o Generate and review construction schedules for Project Team, Field Superintendents, sub-contractors and Customers. o Interact with suppliers on all scope, commercial, and schedule issues. o Responsible for orchestrating the internal resources needed for project execution (i.e. Materials Management, Document Control, QA/QC, Fabrication, and Engineering. o Review project specific accounting data for budget analysis and forecasting purposes o Project controls cost estimating, project management, construction management, and familiarity with contracts, insurance, letters of credit and bonds o Continually update and have PM’s the construction schedules to show any deviation from baseline information and communicate changes. o Manage and organized various projects at one time. o Manage construction budgets and provided risk analysis and feedback on actual and projected cost of each project. o Issue and manage change orders for each project and contract. o Work with customer to reduce any legitimate back charges. o Update the Directors and Project Execution Team on the progress and status of all projects assigned to Kawasaki Americas, with daily and weekly progress reports, conference calls and staff meetings. o Hold lesson learned meetings, implement lessons learned into new projects for continuous improvement. o Travel to each site as needed to monitor construction, installation, and startup status activity, ensure safety is being complied with by Kawasaki, Customer, contractors and any applicable governmental agency. o Provided leadership and coaching at project team level o Field Service – coordinated and direct field service requirements and LTSA contracts. o Project management / Project controls / Contracts –Full P&L responsibility and manage PM’s and all projects $20 to 80 Million each o Led the project team winning award of the company’s first mid-sized gas turbines in North America. o Brought in new Sales Opportunities for the business. o Responsible for the successful EPC I&C of the first Kawasaki turbine equipment in Venezuela. Project for Siemens and PDVSA. Result: Kawasaki received orders for additional gas turbine packages, spare core engines and operational spare parts. Company received additional revenue through change orders.
