Daily Duties at Fiu:
Oxapampa, Peru and Lima, Peru. Responsibilities included: • Technical and theoretical research for the M.S. Thesis on the Impact of domestic waste from Rural Communities on Rivers of the Pachitea Basin, Peruvian Amazon. • Designing research and sampling activities in Oxapampa, Peru, • Organizing meetings with local authorities to educate the community about the project, • Meeting with research authorities from one of the main Universities in Peru (Universidad Agraria La Molina) to design research • Managing budget for the project, • Field work: water and microbiological sampling and analysis, • Laboratory analysis of water samples at FIU Laboratory for BOD, Carbon, Phosphorous, Nitrogen, and sediments, • Modeling the analytical data to anticipate effect of the communities on the river ecology using the World Health Organization Standards, • Technical writing with Michael E. McClain PhD, of a scientific paper “The Impact of domestic wastewater on river water quality in the Andean Amazon of Central Peru” paper currently for submission to the Water Research Journal.
