Special Accomplishments •Pell City had been sued several times over safety violations and negligence and workers compensation rates were well over one million dollars; Result: I developed and implemented the safety program that concerned 153 employees; saved the City of Pell City over 50,000 dollars, almost zero lost time and received excellent reviews from our insurance carrier which resulted in a silver rating for the first time ever •In February of 2008 a F-0 tornado stuck Pell City and destroyed the sports complex and downed 450 trees in the park; Result: I directed the reconstruction and recovery of over 750,000 dollars worth of damage to the sports complex and park after F-0 tornado. Repairs were completed in six weeks. •Oversaw the issuance of over 2. 2 million dollars worth of capital improvements and construction projects which resulted in the construction of the sports complex, Civic Center renovation, Armory renovation, playground construction and new tennis courts •Procured over 100,000 dollars in grant money. This money resulted in the construction of a 1.1 mile walking trail, playground and tennis court construction as well as existing court renovations •Raised and managed over 65,000 dollars for charitable events such as the Toys for Children program which served over 800 children at Christmas •Recruited over 2,500 volunteers, raised 250,000 dollars and constructed a community built playground in one week. Planning for this project was well over a year •Created and oversaw special events such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Candy Throw, Foam Blast, Kids Garage Sale, Catfish Rodeo and Cardboard boat race which won special event of year for the State of Alabama •Led and developed a department of 17 full- time employees and 75 part-time employees to the Agency of the Year award for the State of Alabama •Partnered with various corporate entities to fund and staff special events and programs; recruited corporate entities to participate in city sponsored special events
