Daily Duties at Bausch & Lomb:
• Devised, optimized, and validated GC and HPLC methods utilized in the quantification of target analytes that constituted plating and polymeric coating baths. Used Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer to screen the concentration of target analytes in chemical tempering baths. • Extensively utilized GC, GC-MS, HPLC and FT-IR to study adhesives that were utilized in the lamination of polarized lenses. Accessed properties of photo initiators and UV absorbers. Devised methodologies to evaluate the degree of cure of adhesive systems. Utilized Size Exclusion Chromatography to determine molecular weight distribution of polarizer films used in lenses • Employed Thermo Gravimetric Analyzer, Differential Scanning Calorimeter, Thermo Mechanical Analyzer, and Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer to study the dimensional stability and physical characteristics of polymeric materials. Fabricated test samples from sheet stock material and performed Impact Testing, Hardness Testing, and Tensile Strength Testing • Applied metals and various alternative coatings to the surface of glass substrates using vacuum deposition techniques • Applied dyes to polymeric lens materials to modify light transmission characteristics. Determined absorbance and transmission properties of glass and polymeric lens materials • Developed an effective lens anti fog formulation
