Daily Duties at Consultant:

SELF EMPLOYED –Independent Consultant Northampton, MA 11/2005 – present MassMutual Financial Group– Springfield, MA INFORMATION ASSURANCE CONSULTANT 02/08- present Founded in 1851, MassMutual is a mutually owned financial protection, accumulation and income management company headquartered in Springfield, Mass. . Information Security/Compliance Responsibilities- Worked as a Security Specialist supporting their production environment . Used the iMPERVA SecureSphere tool extensively to comply to SOX and HIPAA audits. Specialized in Data Loss prevention. Created rules to monitor sql databases in multiple RDBS (DB2, Sybase , MSSQLServer, Oracle). Made sure databases adhered to Sarbanes Oxley audit rules. Used tcpdump to identify traffic going to database server. Was a sysadmin on the Lynx machines DBA Responsibilities- Tasks included working with the Oracle 10.2g databases. Defined/created tables, processed SQL backup restore via export import. In a special project worked to move a system from SQL2000 to SQL2005. This included not only the database upgrade, but movement of the old DTS packages (Data Transformation Services-MS sunset this product not supporting packages created in SQL2000 in SQL2005) to new IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator packages (ITDI). AMDOCS Consulting – Champaign,IL DEVELOPMENT ORACLE DBA 07/07- 08/02 Worked as a DBA supported their development environments. Amdocs is the market leader in customer experience systems innovation, enabling world-leading service providers (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, Vodafone Group, T-Mobile, Bell Canada, BT, France Telecom, Telefonica, Telstra, Vimpelcom, China Mobile, Comcast and DIRECTV) to deliver integrated systems at every point of service Tasks included working with development areas to turn logical models into physical databases. Also a number of database imports and exports were done to move data from one machine to another. Extensive creation of shell scripts for database monitoring and DBA task automation. This is a 24/7 international environment headquartered in Israel with major development centers in India. It uses ClarifyCRM along with an in-house written application to control Change and Trouble tickets. Eli Lilly Consulting – Indianapolis, IN PRODUCTION ORACLE DBA 01/07- 04/07 Worked as a DBA supporting their production environment. It included account management, application object management, backup management, common scripts enhancement, installation, and rollout (scripts in .sh;.ksh;.pl), migrating data between database environments, database creation, moving a database from one server to another server, monitoring database activity and performing database tuning as required, database recovery(using RMAN) and database retirement. This is a 24/7 environment with RAC, Datagard and standby databases (both physical and logical). Uses Remedy system to control Change and Trouble tickets. IBM - Application Services – Northampton, MA TECHNICAL ORACLE DBA 02/06-08/06 Work at home for NISource IBM account. It was a new account (for IBM) that needed the software put on a number of machines. Installed Oracle 9.2.0.6 database and client software from vendor CD’s NFS’ed to appropriate machine.. Executed data refreshes, build new databases and space monitoring (Tablespace expansion).

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
