Daily Duties at Thomson Financials :

ENVIRONMENT: VS.Net, Rational XDE, UML, ASP.Net ADO.Net, C#, COM+, XML Schema, Oracle 9i DESCRIPTION:The project is financial event calendar to be used by Portfolio Managers, Brokers and other subscribers. The tool would allow users to track important financial events (total 25 event categories). The tool would also provide webcasts and company profile information. The user can create and save custom portfolios. The custom portfolios can include single securities or a whole sector, industry or indices. You can select various criteria and save it as advanced filters. The application had to support multiple languages. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Developed applications with strict compliance to UML Use Cases and Class Diagrams. • Developed Boundary Control, and Entity classes. Classes implemented using the RUP methodology. • All boundary classes were developed using Custom Controls, User Controls, Tree View & Data Grid control Applications developed using COM+ and Dot Net Framework with database transaction support. • Designed and implemented a custom / user control which reads XML files to populate other server side as well as client side controls with dynamic values. • Designed and implement a calendar custom control with monthly and weekly views. • Designed and developed Top Navigation user control. It is highly customizable and can be added to all other applications pages • Visual Studio.Net with Rational XDE plug in, was used as the development platform. • Multiple Language support implemented with XML Resource Files and Satellite Assemblies.
