Daily Duties at Burns & Mc Donnell:

Resident Civil/Structural Engineer at various coal fired power plant sites. Responsible for contract administration, field engineering, working with owner and A/E; resolve problems between design and construction; initiate & responsible for field design changes, initiate field change orders, develop quantitative estimates for field change orders. Field design changes were correcting concrete foundation pad s to accept equipment bases using AC1 318 to determine the depth for required anchor bolts for uplift & vibration of equipment. Field design of concrete spread foundation for new substation transformer in accordance with ACI requirements. Reviewed shop drawings and double check calculations for structural steel members for moments, loads, bending, and connections (bolted & welded). Reviewed the concrete mix design. Reviewed drawings and double check the calculations for anchor bolts, anchor bolts embedment, thickness of concrete and rebar placement and quantity. Field design of structure member that did not fit or had to be modified due to equipment interference using AISC codes. Reviewed shop drawings & evaluated for constructability for EDPM pond liners (bottom ash, fly ash, sludge, raw water), riprap, piles, intake & outfall piping, asphalt design mix, site control & layout, cut and backfill requirements, underground piping, rail spurs, electrical duct banks and quality control of civil activities(compaction, moisture, adhesion test on EDPM, layout, control points).
