Daily Duties at Eds:
Responsible for maintaining the security posture of a client’s IT environment through the operations of firewalls, host-based intrusion detection systems (IDS), and network-based IDS. Managed and trained staff in a 24x7x365 environment that included IDS analysts and security engineers. Interface with the incident response team and system management team as part of the response process as well as with the program management team to ensure adequate program progress, to address staff concerns, and to address client concerns. • Deployed and maintained the largest IBM/ISS host-based IDS installation for a Fortune 50 client • Developed the technical IDS documentation that contributed to the ISO 9001 certification of the EDS Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) • Successfully detected and responded to numerous security incidents that resulted in minimal data compromise • Proactively trained IDS analysts in network and application penetration testing methodology to aid in event analysis • Frequently requested by senior management to provide GSOC tours for prospective clients
