Daily Duties at Nortel:

Terminal implementation on CATT (Common Automation Test Toolbox) provides API to automate almost all command level operations that can be performed on systems that are logged in from command line. The major functionality includes buffer management and regular expression handling. The implementation distinctly splits into Terminal API and Terminal Test Point Manager (TPM) component. CATT terminal API has a set of classes that provide a base framework to perform basic terminal related operations (type, verify, get command output, login, logout etc). CATT Terminal TPM contact admin server, data manager, resource manager, opens socket connection to SUT (System Under Test), does protocol negotiation and provide complete implementation of the API functionalities. Responsibilities: • Interacted with End Users to understand requirements. • Primed the design for the layered approach using OOAD techniques. • Developed sequence, state and class diagrams using UML. • Designed and implemented the Buffer management, Fullscreen mode, Line mode functionality. • Core Java is used for coding whole application including interfaces, regular expression handling, RMI, inheritance, overloading, thread and socket interface. • Eclipse 3.0 IDE is used for coding, running and debuging the application. • Wrote unit test cases to test different layers independently using JUnit. • Wrote SQL queries to retrieve data from Oracle database. • JProbe is used to check memory uses, performance of the whole application. • Used Log4j for logging the application log of the running system to trace the errors and certain automated routine functions. • Involved in Analysis, Design, Development, Integration and Testing of the whole application. • CVS is used to maintain the version of the System. • Development and bug fix processes was tracked through Clarify CRM.
