Daily Duties at Oregon Health And Science University:
My primary research activity is to generate antibodies specific for adult stem cells. We hope to create the reagents that will assist in further progress of stem cell therapies as compared to previously used methods. My other research area is specifically tailored to obtain an overall understanding of sex hormone effects on diverse stem populations. Ultimately, my aim is to create results from the current projects that will lead us to the better understanding of the mechanism responsible for the protective effect of estrogen (E2), and may eventually lead to new therapeutic avenues for autoimmune and gender-related disorders. The results of my recent studies were presented on the 55th ORS meeting as well as they were used to prepare several grant applications. In the current position I also trained graduated students and research assistants.
