Daily Duties at A & W Database Consulting:

• On and Offsite DBA, install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain SQL Server 2000 database system. Monitoring data to ensure data integrity, optimize system performance, and facilitate proper back-up processes. Set and monitor user privileges within the database environment. • Create and tune complex stored procedures, triggers, views, functions and database diagrams. • Create, modify, and maintain DTS packages. • Numerous instances of Microsoft Access .adp front ends connected to SQL Server back-end datasets. • Extensive use of reusable class modules throughout all applications. • Highly customized GUI creation including data entry, administration, security, highly customized search functionality within each primary data category, and instant data analysis to trigger various alerts and functions. • Extensive integration between Microsoft Access, Word and Excel for custom report generation. • Development, support, and continued enhancement of numerous databases. • Created Microsoft Access split databases using JET replication technology to allow for remote and off-site use by team members. • Created VB.Net application to ensure that each user retrieves the latest GUI updates upon availability. • Generate and maintain project schedules to estimate time requirements, establish deadlines, monitor milestone completion, and track all phases of the project lifecycle. • Write requirement documents and data models for continual enhancements to applications. • Write documentation and training materials. Provide continued training and support of users and departmental managers. • Automated importation of flat-file data into appropriate relational database structure prior to data analysis. • Packaged applications into .exe installation file to allow for user installation. • Medical database experience: Created and maintained Microsoft Access split database used to track all diabetes patients that attend the clinic. Tracks and reports on the patient’s status, medications, and diabetes education attended – essentially everything needed to provide a clear picture of the patient’s status and history with a clinic. • Integration into third-part software applications. • Engaged in numerous small projects for different individuals who have encountered areas of Microsoft Access that they have found to be beyond their capabilities. These small projects range from creation of custom formatted reports, database normalization, automation of other Microsoft software using Access, to simply providing guidance where necessary.
