 Instrumental in establishing metal service center business providing raw metal materials from the ground up, with staff growing from three to 30 people over tenure. Oversaw start-up operations, including warehouse, sales, finance, ordering stock, scheduling deliveries, and selecting computer system for business. For purchased items, worked with vendors and managed bidding process.  Headed purchase of initial office building and all aspects of construction of new building in 1993. Researched area for site and negotiated sale of property with Economic Development Zone; developed preliminary budget; evaluated contractors; oversaw contract negotiations; collaborated on office and warehouse layouts.  Added further value to service offerings of Arcadia Supply with the Waterjet cutting process. Actively marketed the process; secured the General Electric contract, spurring the decision to spin off Arcadia Industrial Services.  Directed all operations for Waterjet job shop, a business spun off from Arcadia Supply, Inc. serving clients from large to small, including contracts with nationally known corporations such as General Electric.  Managed all start-up initiatives of company. Gathered equipment quotations, evaluated and made final equipment decisions, and oversaw installation. Wrote business and marketing plans. Selected computer system. Hired, trained, supervised and evaluated an initial six operators and grew staff to 12, including sales, programmers, and personnel in administrative, accounting, purchasing, and general utility capacities.  Oversaw day-to-day affairs of the company, including finance and signoff on any purchases or requests. Prepared payroll and performed A/R, A/P and purchasing functions until others were hired and trained to do so. Worked alongside accounting firm to generate and analyze financial reports.  Played a central role in development of marketing collateral. Designed graphics and wrote verbiage; collaborated with advertising agency to prepare finished materials. Served as an active participant in trade shows and in customer visits.  Comprehensively built company from scratch into a viable business, growing revenues from $0 to $3m during tenure and from a single- to a dual-shift operation.
