Daily Duties at Castle Communications:
Integrated a new CSS layout into the code base for webdate.com, re-wrote the mobile phone API so that it was structured better and converted it to use the companies internal framework. Following the SCRUM methodology while working remotely using PHP, MySQL, CSS and JavaScript (xAjax, jQuery). Designed relational MySQL database tables, used triggers and stored procedures to interact with the database. This role involved bug fixing and development of new features for the social network site. Consumed 3rd party web services to populate the results for the politician searches. Used Mantis bug tracker to document and create tickets based on functionality requirements. Using SVN, SSH to work remotely. Working primarily on www.politics.com I was able to use PHP’s gettext functionality to integrate internationalization (I18n) into the website.
What they like about Castle Communications:
The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
