FMC / UNITED DEFENSE, Fridley, Minnesota • 1992-2000 Department of Defense (DoD) contractor IT Manager Fulfilled multiple roles of increasing authority to reach IT Manager level. Provided IT support to $1B division, encompassing 14 sites. Ensured outstanding execution of critical defense programs by contributing to technical solution development. Delivered technology solution presentations annually to Congress, Pentagon, and top management. Established capital and operating budgets and contributed to strategic planning. Supervised 6 project managers and oversaw 40 technical staff in matrix organization. Major Accomplishments: • Spearheaded $24M Y2K initiative, involving needs analysis, requirements definition, Request for Proposal (RFP), procurement, and proof-of-concept pilot of Baan ERP system. • Facilitated privatization of Louisville, Kentucky-based military base by overseeing technology activities for the acquisition team; built staff, redesigned data center and LAN/WAN, and managed data conversions. • Supported DoD weapon systems programs by determining requirements and choosing and implementing solutions. • Assessed technology spend for DoD and weapon systems community to identify cost reduction opportunities as member of joint military/contractor task force. • Propelled stability from 82% to 99.95% and saved up to $150K per outage by managing reconfiguration of 50+ Novell servers.
