Daily Duties at National Society Of Black Engineers (Nsbe):
• Manage 16-person Executive Board, and facilitate the zone and committee organizational structure. • Represent Chapter membership, consisting of over 60 undergraduate and graduate school students. • Determine Chapter objectives and strategies, and ensure that initiatives align with NSBE’s mission. • Engage membership in Chapter programming and train future leaders by focusing on quality over quantity, and effective communication. • Launched first ever Columbia NSBE Pre-College Initiative (PCI) Chapter with the Bronx Engineering & Technology Academy. • Oversaw growth in chapter from 10 members in 2006 to over 60 members in 2008, including a 10% increase in membership since May 2008. • Brought 33 collegiate and 13 PCI members – more Chapter members than ever before – to the 2008 Fall Regional Conference, where the Columbia Chapter was awarded 2008 Region 1 Chapter of the Semester. • Increased the number of events that directly encourage members to excel academically and positively impact the community.
