Daily Duties at American Community Mutual Insurance Co:
- Responsible for Computer Operations, Systems Programming, Database and DASD Management, Help Desk, Change Control, Problem Management, PC/LAN/WAN, Security, and Production Control. - Provided leadership to 2 managers and 35 employees / contractors. - Supported 700 users in home office, regional offices and remote sites. - Managed Y2K compliance projects to ensure data center hardware/software was upgraded, tested and prepared for millennium changeover. - Managed outsourced project to re-cable HQ building and convert from a 250-workstation Token Ring LAN to a 650-workstation Ethernet LAN. - Monitored system utilization and capacity to ensure Service Level Agreements were met. Initiated upgrades as needed to provide expected response time, system performance, and storage capacity. - Negotiated extensively with vendors for hardware/software acquisitions, upgrades and maintenance to obtain the best value for the cost. - Managed $6.5M annual expense budget to ensure costs remained within budget. - Administered contracts and approved invoices to ensure vendors honored agreements and only valid invoices were paid.
