Daily Duties at Ge Energy:
One million in cost savings throughout my career with GE/BHA. 3 million in inventory reduction through stocking programs, consignment and slow moving inventory obsolescence. Development of new domestic as well as international suppliers. Co-lead on new software implementation for procurement (JD Edwards-now Peoplesoft) MRP system. Have maintained the role of procurement support for in house problems/teachings concerning Peoplesoft software. Trained in several types of manufacturing environments-make to stock, make to order, engineer to order. Responsible for several different commodities including castings, wire, metal stampings/spinning, valves, hoses and other off the shelf items. My duties regarding these materials include daily review of inventory levels, pricing, sourcing, and forecasting. Respected by numerous suppliers for fair negotiations and integrity.
What they like about Ge Energy:
You give high priority to hiring firms with prestige. Market reputation and prestige of a firm may be determined through on-line research, and conversations with individuals working in your target industry. Note that firms "in the public eye" receive a great deal more critical publicity and attention than those operating with more anonymity. So as you assess your employment opportunities, be sure to seek out the positive aspects of the firm's reputation in addition to noting negative publicity the company may have received.
