Daily Duties at Mercedes Benz Of North America:
Evaluated emission control devices (EGR, evaporative emission canister, & catalysts) performance using EPA methods for vehicle manufacturers (three types of procedures, one of which conforms to the EPA Methods 1 through 5) protocols for diesel emissions. Built/modified test-stand to comply with new regulations and saved approximately $100,000 in costs (in 1980 dollars). Operated and calibrated vehicle emission test stands (dynamometer, dilution air sampling train, and special port sampling), using EPA-approved and manufacturer developed methods. Modified test equipment to meet new requirements. Repaired & calibrated instrumentation; restored, & replaced, engineering test apparatus. Performed EPA Method 5 sampling, maintaining the test environment within strict tolerances for temperature and humidity.
