Daily Duties at Emory Hospital:
• Provide technical system support for Alpha-Cluster running Orders, Lab and Pharmacy. • Leader of Open VMS / Technical Support Group/ Cerner Applications • Interface with hardware/software vendors to resolve system problem. • Plan/Manage Disaster/Recovery for Alpha Systems and work with D/R team. • Provide secondary system support for Radiology and IDX system that utilizes Mumps DB • Analyze system performance and system failures including core dump analysis. • Make recommendations for enhancements in the hardware and software infrastructure. • Tune RMS files by modifying the record bucket size, index size and data compression. • Train applications group on how to tune RMS files and reorganize the Billing file. • Lead Emory support staff in the successful VAX to ALPHA migration project. • Upgrade the Open VMS operating system. (V6.0 up to V7.3-2) • Upgrade and install all layered products for Open VMS/Tune VAX/Alpha systems • Install and configure Multinet's TCP/IP network software on an Alpha 8400 Cluster. • Supervise performance measurements on two Alpha 8400's by utilizing ECP software. • Configure and manage large disk pools including shadow sets. • Write DCL scripts to automate administrative processes/procedures. • Modify system parameters; modify cluster parameters to enhance system performance. • Alpha Galaxy configuration/management for Production and Test / Alpha 8400 Cluster. • Configure and Manage HSJ40/50 and HSG80 Disk controllers (Fiber) (EMC) • Responsible for on-call issues/problems 7 x 24.
