Daily Duties at Marion Military Institute:

Introduction to Psychology: Teaching psychology in a military environment. Most of my students were preparing for a career in the military. This required that I have knowledge of and maintain military discipline while teaching important psychological concepts necessary to individuals who would be in a command position under highly stressful conditions (e.g.combat). Introduction to Statistics: I developed a curriculum focused on imparting a basic knowledge of statistical analysis. The goal was to provide the students with the ability to determine the validity and reliability of statistical conclusions before accepting them as fact. For most of the semester we were without a textbook. My lectures were developed utilizing internet resources, research articles and my own undergraduate and graduate training and utilization of statistical analysis.

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
