What they like about Northern District Of Indiana Federal Community Defenders, Inc.:

You give high priority to hiring firms with prestige. Market reputation and prestige of a firm may be determined through on-line research, and conversations with individuals working in your target industry. Note that firms "in the public eye" receive a great deal more critical publicity and attention than those operating with more anonymity. So as you assess your employment opportunities, be sure to seek out the positive aspects of the firm's reputation in addition to noting negative publicity the company may have received.

Law School Graduate and Licensed Attorney with Practical Experience Looking to Start Legal Career

My name is Matthew Talbert. I graduated from Valparaiso University School of Law in May 2008, and I was admitted to the Indiana State Bar in October 2009. I have had much practical work experience during law school. I actively participated in Valparaiso University's Civil Law Clinic in which I represented indigent members of the community in family law and commercial law matters. I drafted numerous legal documents on behalf of my clients and advocated my clients' legal positions before Porter County Courts. I also acquired practical experience through volunteering with the Orleans Public Defenders Office in New Orleans, LA during the spring of 2007 and 2008, in which I performed legal research and drafted memoranda for the attorneys, and I interviewed inmates in the house of detention. Furthermore, I strengthened my legal research and writing skills through externships with Northern District of Indiana Federal Community Defenders, Inc., in which I drafted a wide range of legal documents and performed extensive legal research. I am very eager to work in a legal capacity when I can help people through difficult situations, while obtaining much hands-on experience and continue to develop my skills as an attorney. I would be willing to relocate anywhere at my own expensive in order to have such opportunities, and I am certain that I will make a fine contribution to any legal service entity looking for a young ethusiatic attorney with considerable uptapped professional talent.

My name is Matthew Talbert. I graduate from Valparaiso University School of Law and the University of Akron, from which I earned a Juris Doctor Degree and a Bachelor of Arts in English, respectively. My studies as an English major, my law school career, and my legal work experience, have all advanced my interest in professional writing, and enabled me to develop strong writing, research, and analytical skills. I carried a grade point average exceeding 3.3/4.0 in my English and Composition courses at the University of Akron. In law school, I completed first year legal writing and research courses, as well as two advanced professional writing courses. Furthermore, during my work experiences with Northern District of Indiana Federal Community Defenders, Inc., Judge Thode of the Porter County Superior Court, and the Cleveland Municipal Court, I drafted numerous legal documents and memoranda, and performed extensive research. I am truly interested in writing, and I would consider any position that would allow me to launch a career in editing an excellent opportunity.
