Daily Duties at Los Angeles Times/ Hoy, Tribune Llc:
• Establishing a daily budget with the news content for two markets (Chicago and Los Angeles) in the International Section. Reporting to the Senior Editor directly. • Coordinating the editorial content of an average of 13 pages a day. • Integrating news from the wires, foreign press and information/stories from correspondents in Latin America and US with the pages layout. • Editing stories (headlines, blurbs and decks writing included). • Defining the content and pages layout based on the relevance of the story, the information and the market. • Supervising the editing of news and coordinating the selection of the graphic content (photographs and charts) for each story under tight deadline. • Organizing special coverage, such as anniversaries, immigration issues and general elections. • Participating in section planning and establishing relationships with other newspaper in Latin America and US to share information and stories. • Identifying immigration stories to publish on the web. Write, edit and select news and opinion columns for the web and the print publication. • Developing and managing partnerships to get information for immigration stories with bloggers, community leaders and organizations in order to integrate their content to our web.
