Daily Duties at The Villa Group:
• Responsible for 489 employees at this five-star luxury beach resort and spa including two restaurants, super-market/deli, gymnasium, tennis courts, full service European-style spa, shopping center, two bars, full recreation facilities including activities department with nightly entertainment, 3 swimming pools, 24-hour room service, business center, and banquet facilities. • Improved hotel occupancy rates for three continual years from 32% in 1998 to 54% in 1999, to 67% in 2000, 68% in 2001, 73% in 2002. The hotel revenue went up from 7.8 million dollars in 1998, to 10.5 million dollars in 1999, to 16.8 million dollars in 2000. to 17.7 million dollars in 2002. As a result the GOP increased from 3.0 million, equal to 30% in 1998, to 4.0, equal to 37% in 1999, to 7.4 equal to 40% in 2000 and achieved 7.7 equal to 44% in 2002. • Created the “Premium Service” Department in the resort, helping to decrease guest complaints and increase overall efficiency of service offered. • Created the Department of Training, which now has achieved 2808 hours of training with 7725 participants for the year 2001. • Reduced the staff turnover rate from 10.44% in 1998, to 8.19% in 1999, to 7.54 in 2000, to 4.98% in 2001, although the number of full-time employees increased from 316 employees in 1998 to 480 employees in 2001. • Developed for the first time within the resort a mission, vision, and values statement as well as a Sales and Marketing Plan and Budget for the resort. • Developed a full entertainment schedule with 7 different theme nights including musicals/shows performed by the hotel’s staff members, resulting on an increased from 50 covers to 150 covers per night. • Developed new sources of income, within the resort such as a beachfront boutique generating $127,000 a year with a 45% profit margin, a miniature golf course generating $40,000 yearly with no additional operating expenses, and a new Supermarket/Deli increasing revenues from $755,192.00 in 1998 to $1,705,213.00 in 2001. • Increased overall customer satisfaction from 7.0 in 1998 to 9.0 in 2001, increasing returned guest comment cards from 50 per month to an average of 450 per month. • Within my two years as General Manager positioned the hotel as the number one hotel in Cabo San Lucas in terms of production from the wholesale market. • Oversaw and co-ordinated the construction of the third and final phase of the resort. • Achieved the highest standard in Mexico for hygiene by being awarded the Distintivo H.
