Daily Duties at Seagate Technology:
Senior IT Manager – Global Security Operations Formulate and execute strategic technology plans to optimize security designs, programs, projects, and operations in EU, Asia and elsewhere. Create, update, and administer $4M budget. Define support requirements and team roles. Approve hardware and software purchases. Direct 9 in-house, remotely located, and contracted operations and design engineers. Manage team supporting 12 Internet points of presence (PoPs), 94 firewalls, 92 business partner sites, 10 SSL VPN gateways, internal and external DNS, remote access authentication, URL filtering, and Internet caching. Major Contributions: • Transformed Global Security Operations team from dysfunctional group into high-performance and customer-focused entity through strategic direction, empowerment, and inter-group dialog. • Increased business partners from 6 to 92 worldwide, and grew PoPs from 2 to 12. • Overcame critical lack of capital and resources, maintaining robust operations, renegotiating support contracts, and prioritizing most vital projects. • Saved ~$615K in support costs, license renewals, and hardware and software purchasing expenses, expertly negotiating vendor contracts. Enhancements: • Strengthened IT coordination and cooperation, creating direct lines of communication between Global Security Operations, Network, Data Center Operations, and Help Desk teams. • Cut operational response time, cross-training team in all support areas, creating and posting new process on easily accessible wiki, and authoring Help Desk knowledge base documents. • Elevated firewall, SSL, URL Filtering, DNS, and RSA rate consistently for maintenance and support contracts, forging collaborative working relationships with vendors and VARs. Key Projects: • Led acquisition team integrating Maxtor networks, VPN tunnels, firewalls, and business partners. • Served as business manager on implementation and monitoring of business critical Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) at all 12 PoPs, WAN links, and DMZs. • Orchestrated business critical replacement of 116 internal and external DNS servers running BIND, DHCP, and AD with all-in-one appliance as business manager. Highlights: • Boosted morale and unified multinational cross-functional IT teams, developing and presenting lauded motivational global communication presentations throughout US and Asia. • Achieved 0 significant downtime and 0 service interruptions for +88 months, revamping network.
