• Director of Public Relations and Community Affairs for $12B wholesale distribution company (second-largest wholesale distributor in the world). Selected and hired to create and manage the company’s Public Relations and Community Affairs team after its sale from The Home Depot to private-equity owners in August 2007; responsible for setting the company’s strategic public relations direction and managed execution for all external communications and corporate social responsibility programs enterprise-wide; served as the company’s official spokesperson and single point of contact for all media inquiries; developed and directed the company’s external communications strategy which resulted in published articles equivalent to over $4M in paid advertising in 2008; developed and implemented media training for all senior leadership team members; created a Press Room on the company’s Web site as a resource for external stakeholders to learn about the company and its mission, values and markets it serves; created and managed company’s first-ever enterprise-wide United Way fundraising campaign and internal employee crises fund (Helping Hand Fund); part of 2-person leadership team to create company’s first-ever private charitable Foundation (HD Supply Foundation); created partnership with Junior Achievement that resulted in a Board appointment for company’s General Counsel; and developed and managed departmental budget of over $2M annually.
