Daily Duties at Gannett News Press:

Reported dotted-line to publisher; directly reported to Advertising Director and Circulation Director. Responsible for leading the News Press (Fort Myers, FL-600-employee, $80MM annual-revenue) circulation sales department and consumer marketing agenda in circulation and classified advertising. • Responsibilities included management of call center (16-seat outbound circulation, 24-seat inbound/outbound classified). • Designed and implemented telemarketing/advertising department; responsible for circulation/advertising forecasting, analysis, formulation and tracking of $4MM circulation departmental budget and $16MM advertising budget. • Managed 5 direct-report supervisors and 40 indirect reports. • Exceeded a $16MM revenue quota by more than $1MM year-over-year. • Increased annual circulation volumes by more than 20% (from 74K copies sold daily to 90K), and increased classified revenues by 8.1% year-over-year. • Developed outbound retail advertising program, generating $3MM in additional annual revenue. • Created and launched “Hot Off The Press” classified product, still generating significant revenue year-over-year; highest annual revenue generation to date for product was $10MM. • Grew automotive dollar volume contracts from single contract to three (Bill Branch Chevrolet, $630,000; Galeana Chrysler, $500,000, and Galloway Ford, $550,000); combined annual contract levels overspent by $300K+ during first year. • Closed the first $1MM (volume) contract (Bill Branch Chevrolet). • Led design and development committee responsible for implementation of Telemar, an advertising database marketing program, which tracked sales rep meetings, results and next visit objectives. • Selected to lead Associated Press Institute seminar on "Creating a Successful Sales Culture". • Implemented first automated dialer in the company for outbound circulation; also first to connect the dialer system to the mainframe, eliminating need to input orders sold, reducing required payroll hours in customer service by 50% and doubling sales per hour (from .8/hour to 1.66/hour).
