In latest position, reported directly to Group Publisher/President. Designed, launched and managed company’s largest call center, with 136 employees, generating $2.7MM annual revenue. Stand-alone unit provides customer acquisition and retention for 25% of Gannett’s Newspapers. 45-seat outbound call center produces 950K+ subscriptions (averaging 123,000 orders annually) ($17.55/cost-per-order average). • P&L responsibility for $2.7MM; managed 4 direct-report managers (retention average 5+ years) and 132 indirect reports. • Promoted repeatedly; earlier roles included Corporate Director of Sales; Consumer Marketing Director; Call Center Director; and Advertising and Circulation Sales Manager. • Exceeded annual order production budget of 98K by 25%. • Partnered with Gulf Group Publisher/President in identifying and setting operational strategic objectives for multi-newspaper group, in addition to call center duties; go-to person for newspaper publishers. • Consolidated 30 call centers with a total of 100 positions into one, increasing sales by 20% (20K sales annually), lowered costs by 10% ($1.2MM annually) and doubled retention (from 30% to 60%). • Consulted to consolidate additional 30 newspaper call centers into 2 smaller sites; similar results achieved. • As part of consolidation, cut scheduled capital expenditure by 75% (used the capital of 10 newspapers that would have purchased automated dialer upgrades - roughly $1MM). • Implemented QA design for instant supervisory order verification, growing on-the-spot payments from zero to 30% (utilizing EZ-Pay for 70% of instant payments), increasing customer retention from 30% to 60%. • Created “Just Ask” program, a process-driven suggestive-sales program for first-time subscriptions and renewals, increasing instant payments by 94%. • Responsible for all FTC/FCC regulatory compliance. • Assist Gannett-Corporate Senior VP of marketing in the development, implementation and tracking of Corporate, sales and marketing, initiatives and programs for the company, including creation of firm-wide “Value Selling” program for classified advertising and the “Just Ask” program for circulation. • Consulted with circulation executives at each newspaper regarding overall sales and marketing; exceeded all industry KPI standards in cost-per-order, customer retention, and target audience sales penetration.
