Daily Duties at Innovation Depot:

• Advisor to medical/healthcare services, information technology, biotechnology, and service companies, assisting with operations, marketing, finance, strategy, and business planning issues • Counseled 100+ external entrepreneurs annually from the Birmingham region interested in starting new businesses in a broad range of industries • Guided the development and execution of growth strategies for client firms and entrepreneurs • Advised on the design and implementation of marketing plans, efforts to develop new markets, and marketing initiatives in a variety of media formats, including collaterals, websites, and packaging • Found and initiated contacts for business partnerships and cooperative agreements • Identified funding sources including angel and venture investors, research grant opportunities, and SBA and other national/regional loan or grant programs • Wrote successful grant proposals to fund organization’s expansion plans • Developed educational seminars and workshops to grow the skills of client companies and entrepreneurs in the community • Organized and participated in multiple events in partnership with local interest groups for economic development purposes, including: o “Momentum” workshop, highlighting opportunities and incentives in the downtown Entrepreneurial District (with partners TechBirmingham, ONB, and MDB) o The first-ever BioMixer event held at OADI Technology Center, focused on biotechnology companies from North and Central Alabama o Managed the creation of a series of business planning workshops targeted to community entrepreneurs with no prior business planning experience. Offered an ongoing mentoring program to increase the chances of successful plan development and business formation
