Daily Duties at Vical, Inc.:
General Lab Maintenance - I perform all preventative maintenance on CO2 incubators, liquid nitrogen freezers, water baths, refrigerators, etc. I also order, inventory, stock, and mix reagents as necessary. CMV and Influenza Projects - I receive, process, and store human samples (blood and serum) for use in clinical immunoassays. I also run assays (ELISA/ELISPOT) and evaluate data on vaccine research being done for over 100 different subjects around the globe for CMV and over 50 subjects here in San Diego for Flu. I also bridge any reagents needed for assays in both trials. In addition, for the Flu trial I developed, qualified, ran, and evaluated an ELISA assay all on my own for use in a Phase I clinical trial.
