Daily Duties at Bechtel Civil & Minerals:

Supervised all aspects of subsurface investigations for power plants and other structures throughout the United States and St. Croix. Office functions included preparation of proposals, schedules, budgets, specifications, geotechnical reports and responses to Contractor's claims for differing site conditions. Field activities consisted of core logging, supervising the installation for monitor wells and piezometers. Performed pump tests and permeability tests including packer, falling head and constant head tests. Monitored blast vibrations and supervised and monitored instrumentation to measure rock and soils movement including strain gauges, inclinometer and extensometers. Conducted extensive geologic mapping of excavations and tunnels for the Washington, D.C. and Boston rapid transit systems.
