Daily Duties at Monterey County Health Department:
Phlebotomist/ Lab Assistant • Answer multi-line phone, Send and receive faxes • Customer Service • Perform general office tasks and used domestic office machines. • Accession lab orders, Utilize PC to enter and retrieve patient data • Call doctors for test and ICD-9 Verification • Collect and accession laboratory orders • Perform Veni-Punctures • Process TB, Mycology, parasitological, Serology and Enteric specimens • California Proficiency Testing • Perform sterile and non-sterile technique • Perform QuantiFERON TB testing (plasma) • Perform HIV1&2 Testing (Oral Swab) • Operate laboratory equipment: centrifuges, incubators, refrigerators, and pipette calibration and cleaning. • Prepare, handle, and disperse laboratory specimens • Assist in environmental laboratory performing, Ph, alkalinity, E.coli and Total Coliforms testing • Assist with preparing media for plates and flasks when needed
