I worked in an out patient setting, Gainesville Imaging, doing mammograms and x ray, mainly on my own, needing minimum supervision. We installed PACS right before it closed, and trained students on positioning.

Challenges
I have been recently challenged by being unemployed recently. I miss getting up every day with a purpose in my life to help people, especially women ( and men! ) who come to have mammograms. They are so upset, uptight and most of them don't want to be there.Sometimes I know they just need time to assimilate the consequences of their tests.
That's why I want to be there for them and help them get through it.
X ray has those challenges also, but in a different way. I want to make a difference in the way many health care people deal with patients. It has become about volume and money, which makes me sad, but I understand that.
I have written to the Obama team about my thoughts on healthcare and hope I can share them. I will support the I CARE bill, which makes licensing mandatory in states that do not have it, to control the amount of radiation exposure to patients.
challenge
Recently, I am experiencing many challenges while looking for a new job. I miss getting up every morning, ready to go help someone with an x ray test, such as a mammogram. I miss the challenge of trying to get the meanest person in my waiting room to smile somehow! Even my old boss, I mean my previous boss, I wish I could try to make him smile! Helping people is the reason I am an x ray tech and I don't want to be unemployed, but have tried to find the positive points to this situation.So, I think I will spend some of my time supporting the I CARE bill that MUST pass to make licensure in all states mandatory. We are responsible for giving our patients the least amount of x ray necessary to get good images for a good diagnosis. That is why we must work together and challenge ourselves to be the best and want the best for our patients.
Each new day brings challenges of some sort, but I try to greet each day with a smile, because nothing bad has happened yet. I would not say that all the challenges have been met, but I hope a new job gives me another one to work on!
