Daily Duties at Halifax Regional Hospial:
Performed routine and complex tasks in the pahtology department. Embedded, cut, mounted and stained slides that were acceptable to pathologist.Routine QI. Ensured that compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements were maintained. Ensured proper disposal of biologic and chemical waste. Files blocks and slides in a manner that facilitates easy and rapid retreival. Preventive maintance on all equipment and instruments in order to ensure accurate and appropriater perfomance. Pick-up of specimens in departmnets, logging in of all specimens and giving each specimen an identifying number. Process and stained cytologic materials. Frequent contact with physicains and nursing staff to explain specimen requirements and obtain information necessary for pathological examination. Maintains processor and changed solutions when needed, maintains embedding station, microtomes, cryostat, Ventana stainers, and Pahtology instruments. Kept manuals and procedure manuals up to date for CAP inspections and other orgainizations. Perfoms weekly inventory of department supplies and orders supplies when replenishment is needed.
