Daily Duties at J.T. Thorpe Company:
I was a lead foreman working with a crew of 6-12 men.Wewould go to different chemical plants throughout the world.We would inspect manholes and trenches for bad spots or wherever the refractory needed to be replaced either by visual or x-ray.Once the bad spot aws found we would tear out by using a ribbit buster or chipping gun.Remove all the old debris,once that is finished I would bring in the new material by forklift wherever the area was needed to be replaced.We worked with harnesses and lanyards,with the proper PPE equipment,as far as fullface or halfface respirators.I would make sure the work was completed all the way and inspect it before signing off for the job.
