Daily Duties at The Schwan Food Company:
Managed and directed all safety and Department of Transportation activities for a food distribution company with 1,800 employees in 84 locations encompassing 13 northeast states. •Conducted training, enforced processes and provided feedback to institute a uniform Hours of Service process throughout the region. Reduced potential DOT infractions in the region by 93% by administering and enforcing a new corporate DOT standard affecting 1,600 positions in the region. •Identified a company training lapse and developed a “New Hire Safety Orientation” for all field employees. Implemented a new process that provided all employees with company safety policies and verification for the company that safety training was conducted. •Supported the Regional Vice President in the development of a business model that maximized equipment usage and increased DOT employee pay potential. •Developed an “Emergency Action Plan Quick Response Guide” that became the Schwan Food Company’s national model. •Led classroom and hands-on driver training instructions for local managers. Training improved manager’s effectiveness related to coaching employees and resulted in more competent drivers on the road.
