I assisted the full-time graphic designers to design, art direct, photograph, and prepare artwork for graphic materials and observed the process of producing various forms of visual communication such as logo design, publication design, layout design, print advertisements, and brochures. I also, worked with design and editorial staff, clients, vendors and other UPMC faculty and staff to help produce products that meet project objectives. I learned how to function as a professional graphic designer in an in-house corporate communications department. During this internship I developed projects ranging from brochures and advertisements, to a final project, developing a branding guide for UPMC Magee Women's Hospital. This involved organization of the hospital’s advertising elements such as photography, colors, and fonts.
