Daily Duties at The Design Center Initiative:
I had the opportunity to participate in this program from its inception. Working with real clients and taking on real responsibilities, but at the same time remaining in an educational setting, gave me both the opportunity to gain valuable experience on how to handle clients and projects and how to work in a team setting. I was also given the title of art director, where I was able to oversee projects to their completion, present to clients, and act as the overall leader of the program. Projects undertaken may be but are not limited to logo design, publication design, layout design, print advertisements, brochures, and Flash websites/ads.
What they like about The Design Center Initiative:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
